Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission

Gallery curation

The goal was to create an art gallery that could not be ignored. The gallery would make Seattle’s homeless neighbors, their stories, and the work of the Mission visible.

The gallery will consist of art installations that will tell the stories of men and women who lost everything to homelessness and addiction. Additionally, it will showcase Catalyst moments from mission graduates. A Catalyst moment is a defining moment in the graduate's life—a moment they finally felt visible. These moments can be represented through artwork, letters, and tangible artifacts on display during the walk-through experience. The stories about each artifact will be displayed next to each frame.

The Visible Catalyst theme will be brought to life by a diverse group of storytellers in the walk-through experience, “Found” photography assets, speakers, program materials, and videos.
